“Courage is not the absence of anxiety — it’s the willingness to keep going anyway.”
There’s a myth anxiety tells:
*You can’t do this until you’re calm.*
So we wait. For the perfect moment. For the confidence to arrive. For the anxiety to disappear.
But what if calm isn’t the doorway — just the echo of walking through it?
What if you don’t have to wait?
You can be anxious and still show up.
You can be scared and still speak.
You can tremble and still try.
The truth is, so much of healing is learning to move with fear — not after it’s gone.
You’re not failing because your heart is racing.
You’re not weak because you’re nervous.
You’re doing something hard. And that’s brave.
Let today be a practice in movement.
Not perfect. Just honest.
One step.
Then another.
Even if you’re anxious the whole way.
Sit quietly and take five steady breaths. On each inhale: 'I can move.' On each exhale: 'Even with fear.' Let this become your rhythm.
Pick one small action you’ve been avoiding — an email, a walk, a conversation. Take one imperfect step toward it today. Do it while anxious. Do it anyway.
Iris G. “This gave me the permission I didn’t know I needed. I was waiting to stop being afraid. But I finally sent that message, heart pounding — and nothing broke. It actually made me stronger.”
Anxiety may speak — but you still choose the next step.
